Teller takes gold at Winter X-Games
He’s wowed the world again.
Mammoth’s Johnny Teller won gold during Sunday’s Skier Cross event at the Winter X Games. Teller managed to out-ski defending champ Chris Del Bosco who represents Canada. It is Teller’s first X-Games gold in three appearances, according to ESPN.
The spectacular win comes on the heels of another great feat from Teller. Earlier this month he became the first American to win gold in a World Cup Ski Cross event.
When interviewed following the X-Games race, Teller gave lots of love to his hometown when reporter Jamie Little asked, “Where do you come from?” Teller easily responded “From Mammoth,” to the sounds of cheering in the background.
As for the significance of this win, one ESPN announcer framed it perfectly when stating, “There is a changing of the guard in American Ski Cross.”
Another notable Mammoth athlete at the Winter X-Games is Tyler Flanagan who took home the bronze in Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle. Kaya Turski, who trains in Mammoth, took home the gold in the Women’s Ski Slopestyle.
