The Tesla charging station in Mammoth Lakes is about two weeks away from being completed, said Nolan Bobroff, the planner in charge of the project.
“[The Tesla crew] don’t have a set-in-stone date but they’re planning on the next two weeks to have it completed and wrapped up,” he said.
Tesla cars are fully electric, and the Mammoth Lakes station provides Tesla drivers a place to recharge between Reno and Los Angeles.
Nolan said that the finishing touches will have to wait until the snow clears, but that the charging stations will be functional by the end of January. The Town will be responsible for keeping the area clear of snow, which was agreed to when Town Council approved the building of the station in November of 2015.
“I think they’ll still have a few outstanding items that won’t be completed until the snow melts, so they’ll have a temporary certificate of occupancy until then,” said Nolan, “but all the construction work they’re [intending to finish] within the next two weeks.”
