Still skirmishing

“Stop the fighting!” Mono County Supervisor Bob Gardner said, sounding like a father telling his kids to quit hitting each other.

He was addressing the Executive Director of Ormat Technology, Paul Thomsen and Pat Hayes, General Manager for the Mammoth Community Water District (MCWD) at a County Supervisor meeting on Tuesday, May 15.

Hayes came before the Mono Supervisors Tuesday and Mammoth Town Council Wednesday asking for support of a letter MCWD plans to send to Governor Jerry Brown, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke and Senator Dianne Feinstein, among others. The letter asks for further review and study into the possibility of water contamination that could be caused by Ormat’s proposed new power plant and pumping of geothermal fluid in areas not used for its current projects.
