On Tuesday, March 20, the Mono County Sheriff Search & Rescue (SAR) team responded to Death Valley as a mutual aid resource to assist Inyo County SAR.
A 68-year-old San Francisco man, on a group cycling trip in Death Valley, left the campfire on the night of Monday, March 12, presumably to go to his tent. In the morning, it was apparent that he had not slept in the tent and a search was launched. Other responders included the National Park Service, and SAR teams from China Lake, Kern, and Tehachapi. Teams searched washes, gullies, and hills near the Mesquite Springs campground and, late in the day, a team from China Lake located the deceased victim in a gully about a mile east of the campground. -MCSDShare Email This Post
