David Lindley live in concert
If you’ve never seen David Lindley, but always wanted to, now’s your chance, and in a very intimate setting, the ICA Theater, 137 Main Street in Bishop, this Saturday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word “eclectic.”
Well known for his tenure as a featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band, El Rayo-X, he’s long championed the concept of world music, with American folk, blues and bluegrass traditions, and elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy and Turkish sources. Lindley’s vocal style and “demented” sense of humor make his onstage banter a highlight of the show.

Install drip irrigation
Join the Univ. of California Cooperative Extension and Inyo & Mono Master Gardeners for “How to Install a Drip Irrigation System” this coming Monday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bishop Community Garden behind Sterling Heights, in the southeast corner of the Bishop City Park.
Like any living organism, plants need water to thrive. Living in an arid climate means that using water efficiently is especially important. A drip irrigation system can help minimize water loss that occurs from run-off, evaporation, and wind and also reduce the incidence of weeds and plant disease.
Master Gardeners will discuss the benefits of this type of watering system and offer an overview of different techniques and irrigation strategies. Attendees will receive instructional materials and have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on demonstration on how to set-up a drip irrigation system.
