On Sunday, July 29, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of two dead mules in a holding area that had been set up near the June Mountain Ski Area about 8 days earlier.
Deputies met with Pack Train team members, who said that two mules had been killed inside their holding area and looked to have been dead for several days. Deputies searched the area, but found no evidence of foul play. The Pack Train stated that all the other mules and horses in the holding area were unharmed.
Mono County Sheriff’s Investigators and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement are looking into the cause of death. -MCSD
