Town holds sign code issues workshop

The Town is updating our sign code regulations as part of the Zoning Code Update. What do you think about the signs you see around town and how might it be improved? As part of its regular meeting this week, the Mammoth Lakes Planning Commission will conduct a public workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in Suite Z to hear your answers to those questions and discuss issues with the Sign Code.

This workshop will allow you to identify and discuss your key issues with signage in Mammoth, including sign design and lighting, banners and temporary signs, nonconforming signs, and the sign permitting process.

Questions to think about:

  • How can sign regulations be more user-friendly and easy to understand?
  • How can sign regulations better support the local economy and recognize the needs of various types of businesses?
  • Do sign regulations discourage visual clutter while providing for effective means of communication?
  • Should the sign regulations encourage creative designs that strengthen the identity of the community as a premier, year-round destination resort?

If you can’t attend this workshop, feel free to e-mail or call Jen Daugherty, Associate Planner, at jdaugherty@ci.mammoth-lakes.ca.us, or call 760.934.8989, ext. 260, with comments or suggestions. –Press Release
