The Mammoth Lakes Foundation recently congratulated 24 students to date who have earned Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarships for the fall 2010 semester. The Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship program was launched in 2003 to encourage Mono County high school graduates to take advantage of local educational opportunities through the Mammoth Campus of Cerro Coso Community College.
“Without the help of the Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship and those who support it, I am positive that my education would have come to an immediate halt after my graduation from high school,” said Angela Jackson, a Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship recipient. “Now, I am equipped to pursue my passions as well as be able to meet new friends and teachers. This past year at Cerro Coso has been one of the best learning experiences in my life and I look forward to finishing my Cerro Coso education in the next school year. I want to thank every person who has ever donated funds or time to the Mammoth Lakes Foundation for the local scholarships. Without your help, countless students would be left without a means of pursuing a higher education.”
The Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship covers tuition and books for up to 60 units or two years of study. Recipients must be current Mono County residents, maintain a 2.5 GPA and take a full-time course load at the Mammoth Campus.
The support given to an individual scholarship student ranges from $800 to $1,000 each semester. During the 2009/10 school year the Mammoth Lakes Foundation provided 45 scholarships to local students. To make a donation to the Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship Fund please call 760.934.3781.
