Former Mammoth resident Justin Ouimet, 24, was arrested on Sept. 17 on suspicion of two counts of murder with a deadly weapon, attempted burglary with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and arson, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

Sparks Police said Ouimet confessed to the murder of Lana Stone, 62, and Connor Lawrence, 2, both killed at a home on I Street in Sparks. Lawrence was the son of Ouimet’s estranged wife and Stone was a relative, according to the article.

Sparks police went to the home at 320 I St. at about 1:30 p.m. on a report of a stabbing and a fire. Fire crews quickly put out the fire and police discovered and Lawrence dead inside. It appears they suffered wounds from an edged instrument, police said in the article.

Justin has been confirmed as the son of local Mammoth Dog Team owner Jim Ouimet.
