On Feb. 5 at approximately 9:50 a.m. a Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer on routine patrol near Mt. Morrison Cemetery came upon a silver Chevy Blazer parked near the cemetery’s maintenance shed. The LEO noticed a man, later identified as Daniel Joseph Geis, 35, of Elk Grove, lying across the back seat. The officer tried to make contact but the man was unresponsive. Mono County Paramedics and a Mono County Deputy Sheriff were called to assist. Geis was found to be deceased from an apparent suicide, although the exact cause of death is currently under investigation by the Mono County Sheriff’s Department. –MCSD/LAK
