In celebration of Dr. Don Sage’s retirement from the Southern Mono Healthcare District (SMHD) Board of Directors, several of his colleagues and friends recently gathered to honor his 13 years of service to SMHD and Mammoth Hospital.
A retired neurosurgeon, Dr. Sage practiced in Torrence, Calif., until he retired to Mammoth Lakes, California. Sage also served on the Board of Directors for SMHD from 1997 to 2010. He assumed the post of Board Chair only a few months after being seated, and retired this past December. During his 13-year tenure, Sage oversaw many changes and growth in the organization.
When Dr. Sage began his tenure, Mammoth Hospital was seeing about 12,000 patients per year, and today it sees more than 50,000 in the ambulatory, inpatient and emergency settings. Some of his notable accomplishments include the addition of the S.P.O.R.T. Building in 2004, the addition of the Medical Office Building, and the new hospital wing in 2007. -Press Release
