Book reading by Butler
Author, Judith L. Butler will read from her latest book of poems at a reception on June 28 sponsored by the Southern Mono Historical Society.
Butler is a fourth generation descendant of Owens’ Valley pioneer families. Her book, “Miss Minnie & More Forgotten Women of the West” honors the WWII era women and features local women of the Sierra who inspired and mentored Butler and her generation.
Butler has been an author and freelance writer for more than 20 years. Her work has been featured in newspapers,magazines and numerous book publications. Butler’s first book of poems, “Nevada Belle & The Forgotten Women of the West” featured a collection of story poems on the brave women who helped settle the West in the rough and ready mining towns and Sierra Valley towns in the early 1900s.
The reception and reading will be held at the “Cabin” (Mammoth Museum) on Sherwin Creek Road beginning at 5 p.m.
