Planning Vacancy
One term of office is currently open on the Mammoth Lakes Planning Commission. The term of appointment expires on July 31, 2014.
The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. Members receive a stipend of $200 per meeting with a maximum of $400 per month.
Interested parties should file an application with the Town Clerk on or before Friday, August 12, 2011 at 5 p.m. Application forms may be obtained from the Town Clerk at the Town Offices, Minaret Village Shopping Center; or by writing to P.O. ML Music Fest a musical feast
The Mammoth Lakes Music Festival features chamber music played by today’s superstars through Aug. 5.
The next concert: “American Beauties” (July 29): U.S. composers featured include a scaled-down arrangement of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” for four-hand piano, played by Sarkis Baltaian and In-Sook Park, “Danzas de Panama” by African-American composer William Grant Still, and a juicy Piano Quintet by 19th century Bostonian, Arthur Foote.

Mono County Kids Fishing Fest
Be at the Snowcreek Ponds off Old Mammoth Road on Saturday, July 30, for the 24th Annual Kids Fishing Festival! From 8 a.m.-noon, young anglers can learn from some of the area’s best from the Eastern Sierra Fishing Guides Association. Rods, reels and tackle will be provided, also included: art activities, lots of raffle prizes, and DFG programs and exhibits.

Summer of Stewardship
Summer of Stewardship heads to the Coldwater Trails on Saturday, July 30, including Duck Pass, and Emerald and Heart Lakes. Volunteering begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes tasks for people of all ages and abilities, from trail maintenance to trash cleanup. Breakfast bagels are courtesy of Old New York Deli. Lunch and raffle prizes, including local restaurant gift certificates and gear from Patagonia.
