Fifth graders final Fun Run
Mammoth Elementary School fifth graders participated in their final Husky Pup Fun Run on Tuesday. The Fun Run is only for elementary school students, so the fifth graders will leave it behind when they head off to middle school next year.
This year marked the 23rd anniversary of the Parent Teacher Organization-sponsored Fun Run, which raises money for the school. Students from each grade participate.
Each child asked friends and families for donations either as a flat rate or on a per lap basis. Depending on the child’s grade, students ran between 20 – 45 minutes around a 200 meter track. Funds generated from the event pay for assemblies, after-school enrichment classes, classroom and teacher’s supplies, technology, library books, supplemental math and reading programs, the ski program, physical education and more. To see how much was raised this year, pick up a copy of the print version of The Sheet, on newsstands Friday.
