North Star grand openings

Dr. Stacey Adler, Mono Superintendent of Schools, and Dr. Terence McAteer, Inyo County Superintendent of Schools, invite the public to celebrate the Grand Opening of the North Star Counseling Center’s Mammoth and Bishop offices.

North Star is a low-cost, family counseling center that serves Eastern Sierra families. The centers are funded via a multi-year grant to provide families, and especially children, access to affordable counseling services.

The Bishop ceremony is Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 3-6 p.m. at the Bishop Elementary School campus.

The Mammoth ceremony will be the following day, Thursday, Aug. 16, from 3-6 p.m. at the Mammoth High School Campus.

Panorama Dome closure

The mountain biking loop trails, the primary hiking trail, and the parking areas used to access the “Panorama Dome” will be closed to the public now through Oct. 24. The temporary closure will be in place during the continued implementation of a Forest Service fuels reduction project. The use of heavy equipment, danger of falling trees, and the slash and debris require that the area be closed to ensure public safety. Entering the closed area may result in a citation.

Visitors can continue to access the top of Panorama Dome via the gravel road that begins at the intersection of Lake Mary and Old Mammoth roads. If using the gravel road, please do not block the gate with your vehicle and make sure that vehicles parking roadside are clear of the roadway.

For more information call the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center at 760.924.5500.
