Cash for Candy

Local dentist Dr. Byron wants your candy, and he’s willing to pay you for it, but it’s for a great cause. The good doctor is holding his annual “Cash for Candy” drive Nov. 1-4. Dr. Sansom will pay $1 for every pound of candy brought to his office, at 170 Mountain Boulevard, during those days.

The candy will be shipped to our troops serving overseas. For more info, call 760.934.3730. Dr. Sansom wishes everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!

“Murder in the Market”

Join Sierra Classic Theatre for its 14th Annual Murder Mystery Fundraiser Dinners, Nov. 7-12. “Clean-up on Aisle 7!”

In the quaint alpine hamlet of Mt. McCoy, locals tolerate the larcenous food & sundries prices at “LeDons,” and the store employees have rested easy for years, knowing their jobs are safe.

But the dinner tables are turned when a new grocery store tries to set up shop in “Murder in the Market: These Prices Are Killing Me!” Audience members are detectives in SCT’s newest whodunit! Shows/times:

Tom’s Place Restaurant & Resort / Nov. 7-8 @7 p.m. nightly. Tix: $38/person. RSVP: 760.935.4239.

The Bistro at Snowcreek Athletic Club Nov. 9-10 @ 7 p.m. nightly. Tix: $45/person. RSVP: 760.934.8511.

Tamarack Lodge / Lakefront Restaurant / Nov. 11 @ 5 p.m. and Nov. 12 @ 7 p.m. Tix: $70/person. RSVP: 760.934.2442.

Breast Cancer Month events

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Vons and the Healthcare Trust of Mammoth Lakes are teaming up to ensure that all donations through Vons checkstands stay local during the month of October. All donations will help underprivileged women of Mono County pay for mammograms.

Also, visit the Double Eagle Spa locations in Mammoth and June Lake for Think Pink Rose Specials in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

And, plan to attend “Women’s Day” on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Mammoth Hospital. Dr. Yuri Parisky will give Breast Cancer Updates, Dr. Martha Kim will talk on “Keeping Your Bones Happy” and Dr. Kenneth Deck will talk on “What’s New In Breast Surgery.”

Lunch provided. Attendees will receive a coupon for a discounted mammogram. Info and RSVP by calling 760.924.4116.

And don’t forget to cast one extra vote this election season for Mammoth Hospital’s “Pink Glove” dance video, which is in the running for $10,000 in donations to local breast cancer charities. Go to www.PinkGloveDance.com and search “Mammoth Hospital.”
