Connie Moyer makes Athletic Hall of Fame
Long-time Mammoth resident, Connie Lizza Moyer, was recently inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletic Hall of Fame in Laramie, WY. In only the second year of combined scoring, the UW men’s and women’s ski teams she competed on, won the 1985 NCAA National title.
The Induction Ceremony was hosted by Former U.S. Senator Al Simpson and his brother, Pete.
Of the thirty-two members on the ski team from 27 years ago, only three were not present for the recognition. Many traveled from as far away as Europe to attend.
The Hall of Fame plaque is on permanent display in the Arena-Auditorium at the University of Wyoming. Since the induction event, UW team members have been lobbying to bring back NCAA skiing to the University since it was dropped in the 1990s.
Connie Lizza Moyer is an alpine ski coach for the Mammoth Mountain Ski/Snowboard Team, wife and mother of three here in Mammoth. She grew-up competing on the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team (and chasing her siblings around the mountain) beginning in 1971.
