June Lake Winter Festival

The June Lake Winter Festival Feb. 1-3, will be a weekend of snow-themed family-friendly events including snowman building contests, snow sculptures, snowball shot put, music and more. And it’s all free! The weekend also features the Triple Threat Winter Triathlon with snowshoeing, cross country skiing and laser rifle shooting. Biathlon athletes, first-timers and kids welcome! ($30 Adults; $15 Kids. Register at Active.com).

MHS singing Valentines

Surprise your love with a singing valentine and a long stemmed red rose; all for just a $20 donation to the Mammoth High School Music department.

Choose from any of the following songs: 1. “Hunny” (Folk-style love song); 2. “When I’m 64” (The Beatles); 3. “Te Amo tanto” (Flex).

Delivery will take place on Feb. 8.

Sunrise Rotary cut-a-thon

Come to the Cut-A-Thon with Hair by Carrie at American Beauty from Feb. 3-5. Tame your locks and help raise money for the Mammoth Lakes Sunrise Rotary. Costs are $35/Women’s Haircut, $20/Men’s Haircut. *Prices applicable for new salon clients only.

Winterfest goes jazzy

Mammoth Lakes Rotary Club hosts its annual Winterfest Gala Benefit Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Canyon Lodge. Entertainment provided by Yve Evans, one of the premiere contemporary icons of classic jazz, who will thrill with her vocal and piano prowess.

In addition to an auction and prizes, the Outstanding Citizen of the Year Service Above Self Award will be presented to Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee co-founders Ken and Flossie Coulter, who will also receive a Key to the Town.

Earlier in the day, take a Ski Poker Run on the Mountain. Best hand picked from 7 runs wins a new pari of skis! Sign up from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Mill!

Theme this year: “Mardi Gras,” costumes optional. Donation: $100, includes dinner and entertainment. Group tables available. Proceeds benefit local schools and youth programs. RSVP: sarah@mammothit.com or call 760.934.4382.

Register for Little League

Mono County Little League registration is open now through March 8 to all players 4-15 who live in Mono County (Age determined as of May 1, 2013). Opening Day of the season is May 4 – season continues through June 15, practices beginning in April. Registration Fee(s): $70 First Child, $60 Second Child, $50 Third + children.
