Boost for Base Camp

Base Camp's new look

Base Camp Café, now owned by Russ Squier and Michael Ledesma (also the proprietors of Gomez’s Restaurant in the Village), recently received a bit of a facelift. According to General Manager Janet Matthews, and one’s own eyes upon entering the restaurant, the restaurant has all new seating, including booths and tables. Local company Drake Wood Milling of Mammoth created the tabletops. In addition the restaurant has been freshly painted. Matthews also worked for previous owner Skip Harvey, who passed away in 2012. Squier and Ledesma took over the restaurant in mid-October. The menu, while still offering your favorites, has an updated look. “We’re going more toward a backcountry camp feel, not so much a mom and pop diner,” said Matthews. (Check out Base Camp’s ad in the 2014 Eastern Sierra Dining Guide, on stands soon, to see what she means.)

Finally, a change still in the works is the goal of being open seven nights a week for dinner.
