Business location has changed, focus narrowed
In the latest round of Mammoth musical chairs that has Tonik moving from the Village to “downtown” (Old Mammoth Road), you may be wondering where Mountain Living went, as Tonik has taken its former spot next to Mammoth Realty Group.
Answer: Mountain Living is now located down the street, across the hall from the Book Chalet and across the street from The Stove at 645 Old Mammoth Road.
As Owner Dawn Vereuck says, she has downsized her office space to 700-square feet, and is mostly out of the retail business, save a candle line and body care products. She is also the local dealer for KraftMaid & Crystal Cabinets and various plumbing manufacturers.
Now, she says, she is focusing mainly on kitchen and bath design, and her remodel business.
Vereuck, who holds a general contracting license, offers computer modeling of kitchens – whole homes if you’d like. She interviews clients, figures out what they want, and typically works with contractors to execute a plan.
Her go-to contractors are Julie and Mike Aguirre and Willie Harder.
Her go-to plumbers are Mark Coronado of Coronado Plumbing and Brandon Toups of Mammoth Lakes Plumbing Co.
Her go-to painter would be Patrick Navarro, who also happens to be her longtime romantic partner.
Prior to moving to Mammoth, Vereuck was a recruiter for a major California (now international) law firm.
“I moved here because I didn’t want to live in Glendale anymore, so I was looking for a transition.”
She initially thought she might live here for six months before moving on to the Bay Area, but like so many, stayed.
She has been in the kitchen and bath business for 12 years
As to the state of the local business climate, Vereuck is fairly positive. “People are comfortable spending money [again],” she said.
She’s currently working on one new house but the vast majority of her work is in remodels, particularly owners nearing or at retirement who are updating their properties for personal use.
“I feel fortunate. My clients are such nice people, she says.
