Letters to the Editor
Thanks, everyone
Dear Editor:
Another successful Town Clean-Up Day was held on Saturday, May 17, 2014. The Town would like to thank everyone for pitching in to help clean up our town in advance of another busy summer – a bag a person really makes a difference!
The Town Clean-Up Day Stations located in the Sierra Valley Sites, the Community Center, MHS Parking Lot and Canyon Lodge, were thoroughly utilized by community members dropping off everything from pine needles, canoes, TV’s, car tires, couches, furniture, refrigerators and even the proverbial kitchen sink!
Thanks to the community, approximately 61.6 tons of green waste, refuse, and debris was collected and transported by Mammoth Disposal, making for safer (defensible space) and cleaner neighborhoods.
Town Clean-Up Day is an immense undertaking that would not be possible without the generous support and community-wide collaborative efforts of our many businesses, non-profit organizations, and volunteers. The Town would like to recognize and personally thank the following organizations: Mammoth Disposal, Mono County, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Mammoth Unified School District, Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District, Sierra Conservation Project, U.S. Forest Service, Cal. Recycle, the Mammoth Times, The Sheet, KMMT Radio, Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, Mammoth Lakes Housing, Mammoth Hospital, the Westin Monache, the Mammoth Knoll’s Homeowners Association, and The Lighthouse.
The Town would also like to personally thank the following individuals: Stacy Corless, Elena Blomgren, Karen Sibert, Greg Eckert, and Brent Truax.
Finally, the Town would like to thank the following elected officials and Town employees for their efforts in making a difference in our community: Mayor Pro Tem Jo Bacon, Recreation Commission Chair Bill Sauser, Town Manager Dan Holler, Kenny Ellis, Stuart Brown, Peter Bernasconi, Waren (Hawk) Boling, Jen Daugherty, Stephanie Daniel, Missy Brannen, Mike Braun, and Steve Searles and all the citizens, and organizations who picked up trash and cleaned up their properties!
