Totheroh declared victor
When contacted by The Sheet on Monday, Inyo County Registrar of Voters Kammi Foote confirmed that a machine count and a hand tally had confirmed that the results of the election for the Inyo County District 1 Supervisor had not changed and that Dan Totheroh has been declared the winner.
According to Foote, Totheroh had the 50% plus one needed to be declared the winner. Asked what happens next, she explained that the vote is not final until the Board of Supervisors approves it which will like happen within the next two weeks.
The final 5th Summary Report of the election has been posted on the Inyo County Clerk/Recorder and Registrar of Voters Department website. It shows the final tally as Dan Tothero with 502 votes (50.15%), David Tanksley with 405 votes (40.46%), and Bill Stoll with 94 votes (9.39%).
Totheroh gave the following statement to The Sheet on his win:
“I am very surprised by this outcome. I didn’t expected this wide a margin between the three of us and from the beginning thought that to have one of us win in the primary would be impossible.
To Dave and Bill, thank you for your service to Inyo County in so many ways. It was wonderful that we were able to keep this a positive, respectful, issue driven campaign.”
Dan Totheroh will replace outgoing District 1 Supervisor Linda Arcularius in January 2015.
