MHS loses playoff heartbreaker; MMS program shines.

The Mammoth Huskies girls volleyball team ended its playoff run with a five set loss to Bishop Conaty-Loretto in Los Angeles on Nov. 13. The scores: 25-20, 17-25, 25-17, 24-26 and 15-8.

“We just never quite got things going”, said Mammoth Head Coach John Morris. “The effort was definitely there but we played a bit too tight and the Wildcats were very persistent. I am incredibly proud of our team nonetheless. They fought through a shaky start and forced 5 games in a very hot and loud opponents’ gym.

We posted a 20-7 record this season, came in 2nd in our league and made the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. It’s always tough when the season ends but when I look back it was a pleasure to coach these girls.”

In the final match Taylor Sanders had 16 kills, Callie Mowat and Amanda Kirkeby had 10 kills each, Sierra Gilfoy recorded 38 assists. Strong passing and defensive performances were turned in by Jade Woo, Kira Shultz and McKenna Smith.

Meanwhile, it appears there’s no shortage in the talent pipeline. The Middle School teams finished with the folowing records:

A team’s record: 8 – 1 – 0

B team’s record: 8 – 1 – 0

C team’s record: 2 – 0 – 0
