After an introduction to the festival’s director of programming Paul Sbrizzi, the crowd settled in for a reflective and journey into the mind and creations of Steve Jobs in the fest’s opening night film Steve Jobs: Man In The Machine. The audience was quickly absorbed into the documentary, and most viewers left the venue questioning the integrity and value of their favorite Apple devices.

Opening Night continued after the film with a festival kickoff party at the Sierra Events Center, provided by sponsors Kathleen and Paul Rudder.  Hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine from festival sponsors Mineral Wines were offered up in a well-dressed setting complete with cocktail tables and a photo banner for celeb-style arrival shots. Festival guests chatted about film in posh clothes and danced into the wee hours.

The evening had all the flair of a much larger and more seasoned festival. From the shrewd curation of the films to the careful attention to detail and ambience, the fest seems poised to become a welcome staple for the town of Mammoth Lakes.
