Kat, 8, Lily 8 and 6-year old Callecia at the Town of Mammoth Lakes Rec Center located behind Mammoth Lakes Library opened for the summer on June 21. The roller skating rink will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 6-9 p.m. There’s also hula hoops, a small skate ramp, a bean bag toss and, the staple of any roller skating rink; Disco. “When the lights go down, the disco comes out,” Patrick Bernard of the center said. And, as old school as roller skating, there is no light show or glittery ball to go with the tunes, “Its all about the sounds,” Bernard said behind mirrored shades.
