Mammoth Lakes Police Department Sergeant Rick Moberly helped a visiting motorist, who was deaf, with car trouble at the busy intersection of Minaret Rd. and Main St. on Monday, Jan. 4 as the snow fell.

Sgt. Moberly was one of many MLPD officers who kept busy helping those who had trouble with the road conditions in Mammoth during the busy holiday period.

“I see my guys totally jump into action and they’re there to help people and keep the roads clear,” said Police Chief Al Davis.

Davis said that helping motorists during storms is “definitely a community effort,” noting that not only MLPD, but also town plows and even local wildlife expert Steve Searles, all lend a hand. “Especially in a community like this when we have so many people who don’t understand the driving conditions, and we do what we can to help them out.”
