Kirk Stapp regains spot on Mammoth’s Town Council after a decade in the wilderness

Who says there are never any second acts in life?

Kirk Stapp, who served as a Mammoth Lakes Town Councilman from 1986-2008, will serve again after finishing among the top three in voting Tuesday.

As of the third update (Wednesday evening), the Mammoth Council results looked like this:

Salcido 959

Wentworth 696

Stapp 585

Burrows 487

Truax 387

Hoxie 314

Voter turnout in Mono County overall was approximately 48%.

Wentworth comfortably won reelection, though he tallied 159 fewer votes than he garnered in 2014 – and that was in an eight person race.

In other key races, Incumbent Stacy Corless won reelection as Mono County Supervisor in District 1. She bested Eric Kaufman with more than 70% of the vote. The latest count had it 380- 152.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Halferty won the District 5 seat, which has been vacant since the untimely death of Larry Johnston earlier this year.

The latest count in that race:

Halferty 214

Rea 52

Kosen 48
