This March 7th through 9th, Arc’teryx Backcountry Academy in Mammoth promises a celebration of adventure, community, and culture.

While primarily known for its world-class backcountry clinics and educational sessions, Arc’teryx Backcountry Academy also shines with its evening programming.

This year, attendees can look forward to two impactful film nights alongside a jam-packed music series.

Film nights will take place at Canyon Lodge on March 7-8 – some of the films have yet to be released – and will include up close and personal athlete conversations. Doors open at 6 with programming to start at 7. A bar will be on site, offering a selection of beverages to complement the evening. Tickets each night are $15, with proceeds going to the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center and other local non-profits.

Friday lineup:

• Tim: This heartfelt film follows Tim Sackbauer, a skier from Vail, Colorado, born with Down syndrome. Tim’s story is one of resilience and self-expression, as he carves his path on the slopes and in life. Presented by Lucy Sackbauer.

• Every Island Has a Name: Join Arc’teryx athletes Elena Hight, Severin van der Meer, Jared Elston, and friends as they explore the intersection of snowboarding, craft and art. This film is an invitation to reimagine the possibilities of creativity in motion. Presented by Severin van der Meer.

• Welcome to the Pit: Travel to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, where Steve Matthews and friends turn an abandoned gravel mine into a thriving snowboarding hub. This film celebrates grassroots ingenuity and community spirit.

• Greg Hill – Chapters of Our Lives: Greg Hill, renowned skier and guide, shares tales from his memoir, “I Could Die at Any Moment.” From avalanches to world records, Greg’s keynote presentation will inspire with stories of risk, resilience, and living on the edge.

Saturday Highlights:

• Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center Presentation: Learn about the critical work of this local nonprofit.

• Butterfly in a Blizzard: A poignant exploration of human connections and nature’s beauty.

• Special Presentation by Kimmy Fasani and Chris Benchetler: Two legendary athletes share their unique journeys and creative projects.

No tickets, registration, cover charge … it’s a free unwind.

And then there’s ticketed late night entertainment at Kitchen 53 in the Village at Mammoth.
