Help the Vaughns
Clark and Melinda Vaughn moved from Mammoth to Quito, Ecuador in January 1990, and founded For His Children, an orphanage that serves Ecuador’s most needy citizens, its children.
Since opening its doors, For His Children has had more than 600 children adopted out around the world, including the local addition of June Lake residents Dean and Leah Rosnau’s daughter, Marina. The organization has been successful enough to expand, opening another facility a few hours to the south of Quito, in Latacunga, Ecuador.
The Vaughns have run the organization through donations from around the world, taking only a meager salary over the years in order to give the best to the children.
A little over a year ago, Clark was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This disease currently has no cure. Clark’s symptoms have progressed rapidly, and he is now using a walker and a wheelchair to get around.
One of the things he wanted to do while he still was able was return to the eastside one more time to visit with friends and enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately his deteriorated health is not going to allow him to do so.
To assist the Vaughns a benefit account has been set up at Union Bank in Mammoth.
