Cerro Coso student Maria G. (Pita) Vasquez (far right) was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award at last Saturday’s 21st Annual Friends of the Foundation Dinner. Founder of the Year was awarded to Gary Myers.

The sold-out event promised magic, and magic is what was delivered. The event featured cuisine by Matt Toomey, and Eberle Winery donated six wine selections, paired beautifully with the various courses. Throughout the evening, the Felici Trio and their students of Chamber Music Unbound delighted attendees with their spirited playing.

The featured performer of the evening, magician Arthur Trace mingled with the crowd during the appetizer service and displayed mind-boggling close-up magic. Later, he charmed the audience with a fast-paced magic presentation that included humor, audience participation and amazing acts of prestidigitation! –MLF/LK
