Value Sports of Bishop is opening their new store in the Mammoth Luxury Outlet Mall on June 28 in the former Great Outdoor Clothing location next to Perry’s Restaurant.
Value Sports is the Eastern Sierra’s only discount outdoor sports’ shop.
Steve Hertzog opened his first sports shop, “Mammoth Sporting Goods” in 1976. The first shop was on Main St. It was later moved to its current location at 452 Old Mammoth Rd. in the Sierra Center Mall. The name was recently changed to “Mammoth Outdoor Sports” to broaden the scope of interest in all outdoor sports such as all winter sports, fishing, camping and a large selection of state of the art road and mountain bikes.
Value Sports was opened in Bishop, Calif. by Steve and Judi Hertzog as a large discount outlet store to provide the area locals and visitors a large location filled with amazing products and discounts on all name brands of sports equipment as well as fashionable ladies clothing and men’s sportswear.
Both stores were sold in 2003 and Steve and Judi retired to Costa Rica to idyllic bliss.
After several years, Steve and Judy returned to Mammoth and took back the ownership of both the Mammoth and Bishop stores.
Last year, Steve’s brother Phil, who has an expansive business background joined him as his partner to relaunch the business.
Mammoth’s Value Sports store will feature the same discounted prices on name brand sporting goods, skis, snowboards and sportswear that they sell at the Bishop store. The only difference is in store size: The Bishop store is 30,000-square feet; the mammoth store will have 5,000-square feet. –Press Release
