ICARE fundraising dinner

Attention pet owners and animal lovers, ICARE (Inyo/Mono County Animal Resources & Education) invites you to their 17th annual Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, April 13, at 6 p.m. in the Charles Brown Auditorium sponsored by Union Bank and Sierra Wave Media.

Evening includes a top sirloin steak or vegetarian dinner, catered by Whiskey Creek, many door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and a special raffle for two adorable quilts: one cat themed and one dog themed. There will also be an exciting auction of valuable art by local artists and other special items.

Proceeds benefit ICARE’s animal welfare programs (low cost spaying/neutering, ICARE Stitch Fund for ill or injured Inyo County Shelter animals and adoption promotion of Inyo County Shelter animals).

Tickets are only $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12 and are available in Bishop at Spellbinder Books and Radio Shack/The Sound Shoppe, and in Mammoth at the Booky Joint, or call ICARE at 760.872.3802.

Help Mono with priorities

The Mono County Board of Supervisors is working on a strategic plan and would like feedback from citizens about what they consider to be priorities for Mono County.

Citizens are invited to attend the Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting on Tuesday, April 9, at 1 p.m., to give feedback at the planning workshop. The Board’s initial list of projects and goals can be viewed online at http://monocounty.ca.gov/bos. Click on Board of Supervisors Planning Workshop in the Upcoming Events column.

The meeting will be held in the Bridgeport Courthouse with videoconferencing to Mammoth. For more information, contact Lynda Roberts, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 760.932.5538, or email lroberts@mono.ca.gov.

Mammoth Food and Wine tickets

Bon appetit and cheers! Ticket Sales for the 2013 Mammoth Food & Wine Experience have gone live online! Special pricing (save $75) on the VIP ticket is available through April 30.

The 2013 Mammoth Food & Wine Experience, which kicks off July 5, has something for everyone, including seminars to tempt everyone from the foodie to the wine lover.

One seminar, “The Best of the Best Burger Contest,” features three LA Chefs: Bruce Kalman of The Churchill, Brain Lenzo of Blue Palms Brewhouse and Chris Lucchese of Off Track Cooking, and one of Mammoth’s own, Matt Toomey, in a chef-to-chef competition for bragging rights as “The Best Burger of the MFWE.”

This year the participating wineries that have signed on thus far represent a wide-range of grapes, growers and vintners everywhere from Napa to Sonoma; from Arroyo Grande Valley to Paso Robles; from the Central Coast of California to Temecula. Check out the wineries on the Mammoth Food & Wine Experience website.

This year there are many ways to savor the wines whether at a food & wine seminar, from the Friday evening Wine Walk at the Village in Mammoth to one of the special Friday evening dinners.  And don’t forget the Main Event Grand Tasting! So many wines, so little time!
