Town builds parking!
Town of Mammoth Lakes and Forest Service staff joined together on Wednesday, Oct. 21 for a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the newly-paved parking lot in front of the town propane tanks on Sherwin Creek Road.

The space, often used as a dog walking area, trailhead, cross-country ski staging area and snowmobile launch, will now be cleared of snow in the winter by the Town of Mammoth Lakes and maintained by the Town.
“The best thing about this is the magic of collaboration between the Town and the Forest Service,” said Rich Boccia, Mammoth Lakes Recreation Executive Director.
Bill Sauser, of the Recreation Commission, listed the myriad uses for the space and said that this should be the first step in the eventual paving of a larger area on Sherwin Creek Road. “This is the perfect spot for a snow play hub without parking dangerously on the scenic loop,” he said.
“This is a very positive step forward in moving towards this resort goal” that the Town of Mammoth Lakes seeks to achieve, said Sauser. John Regelbrugge, US Forest Service District Ranger, agreed. “We do have a long-term vision and this is a step forward.”
