June Mountain hosted its opening day on Saturday, Dec. 12 with a base of 1-2 feet and all lifts open and running, said Abigail Ross, June’s Marketing and Operations Manager.

Ross told The Sheet that the mountain welcomed approximately 840 guests to ski and ride on June’s 32 open trails. The sought-after Face of June remained closed, she said, until enough snow cover will allow it to open. June’s staff was hopeful that this will be the year it becomes skiable again.

June Lake Brewing contributed two beers to toast the season: the Alpers Trout Pale Ale and their Ginger Ale.

Bucky, June Mountain’s Mascot, and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area’s Woolly Mammoth were skiing and snowboarding, respectively, and riding the lifts with employees and visitors alike. “We’re looking forward to an incredible season,” said Ross.
