On June 22 at approximately 3:12 p.m. emergency crews responded to the call of an unresponsive man on the Uptown mountain biking trail in Mammoth Lakes.
According to Mammoth Lakes Fire Department Chief Brent Harper, who was on scene at the incident, the man had been biking uphill and was on the trail approximately 1/2 mile above the Scenic Loop. MLFD assisted the Mono County Paramedics with CPR and transport of the man to Mammoth Hospital. Harper said the man appeared to have been in cardiac arrest.
The man had no identification on him but was later identified by the Mono County Sheriff’s Department as Michael Greene, 65, a second homeowner in Mammoth Lakes, who resided in Topanga, Calif. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Greene did not survive the incident. The cause of death is pending an autopsy report, but seems to have been from natural causes, according Jennifer Hansen, Public Information Officer for the Sheriff’s Department.
