A single-engine plane attempting to land at Bryant Field in Bridgeport on Aug. 8 instead skidded away from the runway and came to rest alongside Hwy. 182. The Mono County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the crash from a concerned citizen at approximately 10:17 a.m. The Sheriff’s Department as well as Bridgeport Fire Department, Mono County Paramedics, California Highway Patrol, and fire crews from the Bridgeport Ranger District all responded to the call.

The pilot, David Linde, 61 of Truckee, Calif. and his passengers had self-extricated themselves from the plane prior to the arrival of emergency crews. Linde and one passenger received minor cuts and abrasions, but the third passenger sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mammoth Hospital for care.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the FAA and the NTSB.
