Too many brews make for a looza
Saturday, Aug 7. An estimated 5,000 people were on hand for the Bluesapalooza Festival. According to Mammoth Lakes Police Department, the festival, located at Sam’s Woodsite, went off with relatively few incidents, with 11 law enforcement personnel and 15 private security guards on hand.
MLPD Chief Dan Watson told the Sheet that the enforcement policy was one of ‘controlled recognizance.’ “One arrest occurred at Sam’s Woodsite,” the Chief said. “A 54 year-old woman from Southern California was arrested for a 647 f PC (plain drunk) violation on Saturday afternoon. Officers and security personnel were unable to locate any responsible parties to care for her. She was booked into the Mono County jail.”
Watson went on to say, “Police responded to several other incidents over the weekend throughout town. In addition to the woman arrested at the Festival, a total of five people were arrested for being drunk in public over the weekend, and one person was arrested for a domestic violence charge. Officers also responded to a felonious assault on Friday night in a motel parking lot. The crime was unrelated to the festival.”
