It was a big hole in one for the Mammoth Lakes Foundation, as a massive field of 144 players raised $35,000 in support of higher education and cultural enrichment during last weekend’s sold-out 11th Annual Foundation Golf Classic Sept. 12.
Mammoth Lakes Foundation Scholarship students and South Gateway Student Apartment students were among volunteers at Sierra Star Golf Course supporting the Mammoth Lakes Foundation scholarship fundraiser. Highlights of the scramble tournament included an iPad raffle, Super Ticket raffle, a $5,000 putting contest, silent auction, an award party, as well as a Closest to the Pin prize on all par 3 holes.
“Dave Schacht and his guys at Sierra Star were amazing to work with,” said Mammoth Lakes Foundation Development Manager Maya Weinhart. “I’d also like to thank our sponsors, players, volunteers and staff. The tournament went extremely well and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
Tournament low score went to the 80/50 team of Guy Bien, Ian Birrell, Craig Copeland and Christian Newman. The iPad raffle winner was Greg Eckert. Richard Banach nabbed the Super Ticket raffle prize of seven nights in Belize. And Closest to the Pin has some fierce competition from Suzie Davidson (who hit it twice!), Dave Eberts and Bob Hulburt.
