On Monday, Oct. 18 at approximately 1:15 p.m., Bishop Police Officers responded to an injury traffic accident in the area of North Main and Yaney Streets. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1997 green, Dodge pickup had rear ended a 1997 GMC pickup in the northbound lanes of Main St. while the GMC was stopped at the red light. The GMC truck was pushed forward into the rear end of a travel trailer being towed by another GMC pickup. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver of the green Dodge pickup, Mark Douglas Heffron, age 47, of Bishop, for Felony Drunk Driving. A passenger from the GMC truck towing the travel trailer was transported to Northern Inyo Hospital by ambulance. The passenger’s injuries appeared moderate. Heffron was transported and booked at the Inyo County Jail. The investigation is continuing at this time. –Bishop PD
