Magit is evenhanded

Dear Editor,

As a Mammoth lawyer for several years, I had the pleasure of working with both Randy Gephart and Mark Magit. I like and respect both men, although they are very different.

Randy and I are actually very similar: impatient, arrogant, with considerable faith in his own judgment and little interest in the opinions of others. I know these traits well, because I share them. Mark is everything Randy and I are not: patient, humble, willing to listen, and interested in hearing different perspectives.

A judge’s number 1 responsibility is to listen to both sides and make a decision based on the law. I know myself, and I know Randy – and I wouldn’t want either of us on the bench. Mark, on the other hand, has exactly the right temperament for the job: patient, evenhanded, compassionate and fair.

I don’t have a personal or professional stake in the outcome of this election. I moved away years ago. But I still think of Mammoth as home, and I want the best for the people of Mono County. And Mark Magit is the best choice for Superior Court judge.
