“Poetry Out Loud”
“Poetry is the language in which man explores his own amazement,” wrote Christopher Fry. “Poetry Out Loud,” a national competition sponsored by the Poetry Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, seeks to reintroduce the glory of classical poetry to high schoolers. Mono County is participating this year, with students from Benton, Coleville and Mammoth entered in the tiered competition, that goes from the county to the state and on to the finals in Washington, D.C.
Support Mono’s young competitors as they read “Poetry Out Loud” Saturday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Edison Theatre @ Mammoth’s Cerro Coso campus. The event is free and open to the public.
