Get an inside peek at MLPD
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department will host its first Community Police Academy beginning May 12. The Academy is open to community members interested in learning about the inner workings of the Mammoth Lakes Police Department.
The goal of the Community Police Academy is to form and maintain partnerships between the community and the police by educating residents about the role of law enforcement. Participants will have the opportunity to see the criminal justice system as only an insider could; learn and experience the day-to-day operations of the department, tour the Mono County Jail, participate in basic defensive tactics and solve mock crimes.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older and live in the Mammoth Lakes area. The class will be limited to a maximum of 15 students. Classes will be held every Thursday from 6-9:15 p.m., beginning May 12 and ending June 30.
To request an application, or for additional information, please contact Officer David Scobie at 760.934.2011 extension 55 or come to the Mammoth Lakes Police Department Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. –MLPD
