The Mammoth High School Drama Dept. is doing The Wizard of Oz as its spring musical this year.
The show, presented in the High School’s MPR, opens Wednesday, March 30 and runs through Saturday, April 9.
Showtimes are Wednesday-Saturday at 7 p.m. each night. Tix are just $5.
Free AARP tax aide
The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation, in association with the Mammoth Lakes Library and Cerro Coso Community College, offers free tax help, preparation, and e-filing. The program assists low and middle-income taxpayers.
The service is being provided in the Mammoth Lakes Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-5 p.m. throughout tax season all the way through April 15. Spanish speaking volunteers are available. Bridges to read “K2”
Do you have your tickets yet? Because you don’t want to miss “An Evening with the Stars: An Intimate Staged Reading of K2,” by film and TV actor Beau Bridges, on Saturday, March 26, at 6 p.m. at the Edison Theatre in Mammoth.
Bridges and his nephew, Marcel Lloyd, will take us through the action-adventure play “K2” by Patrick Myers. Mr. Bridges has starred in feature movies such as “The Other Side of the Mountain” and “The Fabulous Baker Boys,” and on TV in series such as “Stargate” and “My Name is Earl.”
Tickets (which include drinks and appetizers): $150- first two rows w/raffle ticket, $100- general admission. Proceeds benefit higher education and the arts in the Eastern Sierra. Youth Sports Funding
The 2011 Mammoth Lakes Youth Sports Funding process closes Friday, March 25. The Town of Mammoth Lakes awards $32,000 annually to help provide additional funding to organized, non-profit youth sports programs or activities that may be in need to continue operations. Each year the Mammoth Lakes Hospital Auxiliary provides scholarships to college students working toward a medical degree, and the application period for this year’s awards is open now through April 30.
Applicants must reside in Mono County from June Lake to the southern border, the hospital’s district boundaries, and have completed two years of medically-related college courses to be eligible. Awards begin at $1,000 and go up to $4,000. Applications are available at the Hospital Admissions office, the Cast-Off and the Mammoth Library.

Eastern Sierra Audubon’s Big Pine Wildlife Tour with Jo and Tom Heindel has been rescheduled for this Saturday, March 19.
