Town/Wilbrecht reach employment agreement

During its closed session meeting on Friday, April 22 the Mammoth Lakes Town Council was able to finalize the employment agreement with new Town Manager Dave Wilbrecht. Council hit a snag on Wednesday night at its regular Town Council meeting when it was pointed out by staff that Wilbrecht’s contract provided that the Town would pay the employment contribution to his PERS. Council approved a resolution in November 2010 stating that no new employees would receive this benefit.

Also flagged was that the contract stated he would be able to retire at his last year’s salary rather than an average of his three years.

According to Mayor Pro Tem Jo Bacon, in a press release issued by the Town on Friday, “Town Council has ironed out the issues with the proposed contract and has reached an agreement on a compensation package that is consistent with the original intent. The revised employment agreement will be on the May 4, 2011 Town Council agenda.”

Wilbrecht’s first day on the job is scheduled for June 1.
