Triple M still in the mix
The Town of Mammoth will retain Marianna Marysheva-Martinez’s services for a while longer, at least until some key goals are accomplished. MMM had been serving as Interim Town Manager, with a contract that was to have expired on June 30. She informed The Sheet that the contract did have a clause that allowed her to extend the deal if needed (and provided she was willing and available) on a month-to-month basis. MMM said the deal doesn’t include any changes in terms.
MMM said her role from here on out is fairly specific, covering three main areas: litigation settlement, personnel, and budget and finance. “There’s still lots of work to be done, but all limited duration in nature.” MMM couldn’t say how many months she would still be on the job, but was explicit that once those goals are met, she’s finished.
If she is, as this article implies, the titular head of the finance arm of the Town, does this mean Myrold no longer gets her increase in pay for being the “acting” finance director? Especially, since MMM came on board, Myrold hasn’t directed anything?
Maybe the little Ballerina from Pasadena can’t say how many months she will still be performing here in Mammoth Lakes, but I can. She’ll be glissading out of here as soon as she can get a better gig from some other city council which, like Mammoth’s version of the Keystone Kops, thinks paying top dollar automatically gets you top performance. Unfortunately, in this case, as in countless past such council blunders, MMM’s grossly over-rated and over-paid performance has been more burlesque than serious and of B-movie quality at that. And, when MMM finally exits stage south, the Town’s current mayoress du jur, another former government fiscal diva herself, will surely present Madama Marianna with a plaque extolling her all-tutu-and-no-toetoe ballet act.
Not too shabby for a gal who was fired from her last job the day Oakland’s new mayor took office. But then, she just may be a financial genius; she’s managed to pirouette herself into an unemployment check of $3,500 a week, plus airfare and a condo, while the last few town employees remaining continue to have their pay slashed close to Food Stamp and MediCal eligibility levels.
The sooner the Jackson Five say “dos vedanya” to this overblown summer intern from Berkeley, the more cash they’ll have left to blow on their favorite folly, Gregory International Airport.
