On Wednesday morning, Jan. 18 Mammoth Lakes Police Officers arrested a local man, who had taken up “residence” in the abandoned La Sierra building on Main Street, but not for squatting. It turns out that the suspect, identified as Cameron Puckett, 26, of Mammoth Lakes, was wanted in conjunction with a recent burglary at Mammoth Mountaineering.

According to Police Chief Dan Watson, MLPD Officers Dan Casabian and Andy Lehr responded to a call about someone lurking inside the building, and subsequently arrested Puckett, who was booked for burglary. Puckett is also on parole for forgery.

He’s being held in the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport, pending further disposition by the District Attorney’s office. –Geisel
