Jazz Jubilee tunes up

You won’t want to miss a single note of the 24th Annual Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee, July 11-15! And being a volunteer means extra good times. Mingle with the event directors, site managers, and some of the world’s best musicians, plus more than 400 new and old friends from around the country.

Shock your senses with the sight of sparkly hats, flashing beads, t-shirts of all persuasions, funky glasses, tinsel of gold, green, and purple, the smells of tasty food, wonderful libations, and the sounds of great music.

With stage lights of red, yellow, blue, and green, dance floors for all ages, Mardi Gras, Big Band Night, Brass Blast, Precocious Percussion, Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, Jazz Camp, and more. Something for everyone of all ages!

Enormous tents, endless chairs, truckloads of wood chips, miles of blinking lights, piles of tokens – all to make this the best Jazz Jubilee experience you will ever have.  Buses, trolleys, cars, skateboards, bicycles, hiking boots – all will bring you to the time of your life in the cool Sierra air.

Still time to be a “NOTE-able” and receive the benefits of a sponsorship opportunity.

To volunteer contact 760.934.2478, flossnken@verizon.net, or 760.934.9668, marshalle@earthlink.net. More information on tickets, band schedules, and sponsorships:  www.mammothjazz.org.

22nd Annual Tour of Homes

The 22nd Annual Tour of Homes has become a Mammoth tradition, this year it’s set to hit the road on July 14 from 9 a.m.-noon. Locals and visitors love the opportunity to be invited into some of the most extraordinary homes in the Eastern Sierra and to see how each is beautifully decorated.

The Tour of Homes provides a relaxing atmosphere to be out with their friends, while others get excited to be inspired by a home’s décor and uniqueness. It’s also the single largest fundraiser for the Mammoth Lakes Lutheran Church.

The parish is needless to say rather small, so financially it depends on donations and fundraisers in order to keep the doors open. The Tour of Homes is fully operated by volunteers and all donations from the Tour go directly into the Church. Volunteers organize the tour, host the homes during the tour and even offer a reception in the Parsonage afterwards.

Pick up a tour booklet at 8:30 a.m., at Mammoth Lakes Lutheran Church. Visit homes and drop by the church parsonage afterward for a reception.

Meet the new Pastor and members of the church, chat about your favorite home while enjoying some goodies to eat.
