Mis-bear-havin’

  • by Andy Geisel

Drought conditions have resulted in a reduction in natural food sources for bears, driving them to seek out people food. Mammoth Wildlife Specialist Steve Searles and MLPD officers take multiple bear calls daily. Searles had this reminder posted on Lk. Mary Rd. heading up to the Lakes Basin. Secure dumpsters, store food (pet and bird food included) in airtight containers, don’t leave food in cars, tents, etc., lock cars and garage doors, and windows when not at home. Info: contact Searles at 760.937.BEAR or the MLPD at 760.934.3261.(Photo: Geisel)
