Mammoth Nordic is ready for snow
While Mammoth Mountain has received several feet of snow and all of the lodges are open, Nordic trails down around the Town of Mammoth are still in need of more white stuff. Mammoth Nordic, which supports, develops and promotes Nordic Recreation in Mammoth, is anxiously awaiting the opportunity to be able to turn these trails into groomed track skiing, snowshoeing, and other winter recreation opportunities for visitors and locals.
While they wait they have been preparing everything from the trails themselves by removing large tree stumps that may get in the way, to the repairing the YTS groomer (or Nordoni) so it will be ready to perform beautifully as soon as Mother Nature pulls the trigger. Pictured is Mammoth Nordic Founder and President Brian Knox as he repairs the apron and replaces cutting teeth (at his neck) on the groomer.
Mammoth Nordic, in partnership with the Inyo National Forest, grooms approximately nine miles of XC trails near the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, in the Shady Rest Campground area.
