According to Mammoth Lakes Town Councilman Matthew Lehman, Town Manager Marianna Marysheva-Martinez has resigned. In a follow up phone call Lehman said, “It’s not official but I think that’s the direction it’s going.”
A town employee stated that MMM was packing up her office on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The resignation follows a long, closed session debate by the Mammoth Town Council regarding whether or not to dismiss MMM and hire local businessman Tom Cage for the job.
As of Friday evening, Aug. 30, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council was still unable to make up its mind following another Special Closed Session Meeting in Suite Z. On the agenda were two closed session items: 1. “Council will hold a conference to consider discipline/dismissal/release of a public employee” and 2. “Council will hold conference to consider appointment of a public employee: Town Manager.”
There was no action taken during the closed session, according to Councilman John Eastman. Marianna Marysheva-Martinez (MMM) remained Town Manager at that time. Some members of the public had taken issue with the fact that the Aug. 30 meeting was held on MMM’s day off and also on the eve of a three-day, holiday weekend.
The Town Manager item was also scheduled for closed session for the upcoming Sept. 4 regular Town Council meeting.
